University of Wyoming rolls out improved SafeRide service, powered by Via

The updated SafeRide program boasts curb-to-curb booking and expanded service hours

Sept. 7, 2022 (LARAMIE, WY) — The University of Wyoming recently launched an enhanced version of SafeRide, a tech-enabled transportation service that offers free rides within Laramie city limits.

The updated SafeRide service combines the former LaramieLink Dial-a-Ride service into the same booking and dispatching flow as SafeRide to create one consolidated, convenient travel experience for all riders while also providing extended hours. Previously, LaramieLink riders were only picked up and dropped off at designated points of interest, and SafeRide focused on serving late-night trips near downtown. Now, riders can book curb-to-curb SafeRide trips anywhere within city limits starting at 10 a.m. on weekends and 6:30 p.m. on weekdays.

The service also includes an ADA-compliant paratransit offering, which allows both prebooking and on-demand booking to ensure that all riders in Laramie have equal access to mobility.

Additionally, the updated service includes the UWYO SafeRide app, which is powered by Via, the global leader in transit technology. Via’s intelligent algorithms match multiple riders headed in the same direction into one vehicle. Once a ride is entered with pickup and drop-off locations, the system will provide ride options for time and location. After an option is selected, a driver in a SafeRide-branded vehicle is dispatched to meet the rider. Riders can track their vehicles, see wait times and receive system announcements through the app.

SafeRide operates Monday through Friday from 6:30 p.m.-2 a.m.; Saturday from 10 a.m.-2 a.m.; and Sunday from 10 a.m.-10 p.m. To request a ride, use the UWYO SafeRide app, which can be downloaded from the App Store or Google Play; call (307) 766-7433; or, if already in the downtown area, go to the SafeRide office at 403 S. Third St.

“The ultimate goal of the new SafeRide is to use technology to create a flexible transportation option for students and Laramie residents,” says Paul Kunkel, director of UW Transportation Services. “The updated service includes improved aggregation for shared rides, which also supports the university’s sustainability goals and reduces emissions and traffic congestion on and near campus.”

What’s a Rich Text element?

The rich text element allows you to create and format headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, images, and video all in one place instead of having to add and format them individually. Just double-click and easily create content.

Static and dynamic content editing

A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!

How to customize formatting for each rich text

Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.
