Cookie Notice
Last Updated: October 10, 2023
This Cookie Notice supplements the information contained in the Privacy Notice by explaining how we and our business partners and third-party service providers use cookies and related technologies in the course of managing and providing our online services and our communications to you. It explains what these technologies are and why we use them, as well as your rights to control our use of them. Unless otherwise expressly stated, the terms used in this Notice have the same meaning as defined in the Privacy Notice.
Cookies and Related Technologies
Cookies are small data files that are stored on your computer that allow us and our third-party partners and providers to collect certain information about your interactions with our email communications, websites, apps, and other online services. There are two general types of cookies:
- Session cookies: A session cookie typically disappears after you close your mobile application or browser.
- Persistent cookies: A persistent cookie remains after you close your browser and may collect or transmit information every time you use the Via Services until it is manually cleared or reaches its expiration date. We use persistent cookies when we need to know who you are for more than one session (e.g., to remember your preferences for the next time you use the Via Services).
We and our third-party service providers and business partners may use both session and persistent cookies and other, related technologies to collect this information, such as web beacons, pixels, embedded scripts, software development kits (“SDKs”), and location-identifying technologies and logging technologies (collectively, we refer to these technologies as “cookies”).
What We Collect When Using Cookies
We and our third-party service providers and business partners may use cookies to automatically collect certain types of usage information when you visit or interact with our email communications, websites and other online services. For example, we may collect log data about your device and its software, such as your IP address, operating system, network, browser or device type, date/time of your visit, and other similar information. We may also collect analytics data or use third-party analytics tools such as Salesforce’s Pardot or Google Analytics to help us measure usage and activity trends for our online services and better understand our Users.
Our third-party service providers and business partners may also directly collect personal information about your online activities over time and across different websites when you use our websites and online services. For example, we may share, or we may permit third-party services to collect information about your use of the Via Services over time so that they may deliver content, including ads, that may be relevant to your interests on in the Via Services, on other websites or apps (including social media platforms), or on other devices you may use.
Social media platforms like LinkedIn, Facebook, Google, and others, have interest-based advertising programs that allow us to direct advertisements to users who have shown interest in the Via Services while those users are on the social media platform, or to groups of other users who share similar traits, such as likely commercial interests and demographics. These advertisements are governed by the privacy policies of those social media companies that provide them.
We use Google Analytics for both analytics and advertising purposes. Some of the advanced advertising features provided by Google Analytics enable us to use first-party cookies (such as the Google Analytics cookie) and third-party cookies (such as the DoubleClick advertising cookie) or other third-party cookies together to inform, optimize, and display ads based on your past visits to the Via Services. You can find out more information about how Google uses your data when you use its partners’ sites here, and more information about Google’s data practices here.
How We Use Information Collected Through Cookies
We may use the data collected through cookies to: (a) remember information so that you will not have to re-enter it during your visit or the next time you visit the Via Services; (b) provide and monitor the effectiveness, online usage, and Users’ interactions with the Via Services; (c) improve and diagnose errors or issues with the Via Services; (d) provide custom, personalized content and information, including targeted content and advertising; (e) identify you across multiple devices; (f) provide and monitor the effectiveness of the Via Services; and (g) facilitate the other purposes identified in the Privacy Notice. We and our marketing partners also use the information we collect through cookies to understand your browsing activities, including across unaffiliated third-party sites, so that we can deliver information and ads about our services that may be of interest to you.
In some cases, we may use cookies and related technologies described in this Cookie Notice to collect personal information, or to collect information that becomes personal information if we combine it with other information. For more details about how we process your personal information, please review the Privacy Notice.
