Maintaining Hall Area Transit’s fixed-route transportation network required a significant portion of capital expenditure, further underscored by the County’s impending reclassification to a“large urbanized area” — which would mean a cut in funding.

Via conducted an 8-month study analyzing whether a demand-responsive service could lower operational costs and serve the population more efficiently. Based on study results, Hall Area Transit implemented a new transportation plan when they partnered with Via to launch microtransit service, WeGo inDecember 2020.
